On Friday the Mercedes drivers showed a good time…
George Russel (3rd): “All in all a positive Friday. The car is doing well, in the cooler temperatures in the second practice it behaved better than in the warm weather in the first.
Ferrari has excellent speed, especially on a fast lap, and in long series many were fast, so we are optimistic about the future. We will work in the evening to improve tomorrow.
I like the new track configuration. The last sector and the circle as a whole became smoother. This improves our driving experience and should help in the race. The new asphalt in turns one to five is also very good.”
Lewis Hamilton (5th): “Great day. Singapore has done a fantastic job of changing the circuit; I like it much more now. The new surface is excellent and the straightening of the four corners at the end of the lap has made the track more refined.
We are still behind in terms of speed, but that is not too bad. Today’s second training can be called the best of this year. It’s nice to end Friday on such a positive note. We have a good platform to make further progress as the weekend progresses.”
