18-year-old Filipina Bianca Bustamante has joined McLaren’s youth program and will represent the team in the women’s F1 Academy series next season.
Bianca became the first woman in the McLaren program, she has been racing since the age of five, has won the Asian Karting Championships more than once, competed in the W Series, regional Formula 4 and won two races in the F1 Academy in the 2023 season.
Bianca Bustamante: “I can’t believe I signed with McLaren and ART Grand Prix – something I couldn’t even dream of in karting in the Philippines. I still can’t look at my name next to the logo of the historic McLaren team without emotion.
I am very grateful for this opportunity and believe I received the best development program. My goal for 2024 is to achieve stability and improve my mental qualities so that I can challenge for the title in the upcoming F1 Academy season.”
