A record-breaking Formula 1 season is planned for 2024, including 24 Grands Prix. McLaren chief Zak Brown believes that more circuits could be included in the calendar in the future, but on the condition that some races alternate.
“24 stages is the maximum possible number for the well-being of employees, but we must continue to expand Formula 1’s presence,” Racingnews365 quotes Zac Brown. – I would like to see a scenario where we have twenty fixed Grand Prix, and another eight that rotate once a year. So we will have a calendar of 24 races, but at the same time the sport will be present in more regions and countries.
I make these offers, but I don’t know how the economics of promoters work. I don’t know if this kind of rotating racing calendar is feasible for a promoter, but in my opinion it is the ideal scenario.
I find it easy to say, but it is much more difficult for Formula 1 to make this scenario come true. But like I said: if it works, it’s perfect.”
