Team Lineups 2025: Contracts and Rumors

We have collected the latest information on driver contracts and team line-up rumors for the 2025 season. The material is regularly updated, the current version is from May 29.

Red Bull racing

Max Verstappen’s contract runs until 2028, but that doesn’t mean rivals won’t try to land the current world champion.

The most active in this is Toto Wolff, who needs a replacement for Lewis Hamilton, who is leaving for Ferrari. However, both Max and the heads of Red Bull Racing Christian Horner and Helmut Marko assure that Verstappen will continue to compete for the team from Milton Keynes in 2025.

Sergio Perez’s contract expires at the end of 2024. The Mexican will most likely receive an offer to extend his contract for another season, although there are quite a few people who want to replace him. This includes RB drivers Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda as well as Carlos Sainz.

Mercedes

Lewis Hamilton sparked a wave of moves in Formula 1 when he announced his decision to join Ferrari in 2025 earlier this year. This came as a surprise to Toto Wolff, but the Mercedes team boss has repeatedly said he would not rush into a decision on who will replace Hamilton.

Toto does not hide the fact that he wants to sign a contract with Max Verstappen, but the Dutchman will definitely not drive a Mercedes in 2025. Wolff actually chooses from two options: Carlos Sainz and Andrea Kimi Antonelli.

Mercedes is willing to offer Carlos only a one-year contract, which does not suit Sainz. This increases Antonelli’s chances. According to the latest information, it is the 17-year-old Italian who will be asked to become George Russell’s partner. Although the press even suggested the return of Valtteri Bottas.

As for Russell himself: his contract with Mercedes runs until the end of 2025.

Ferrari

In January 2024, Ferrari announced the extension of the contract with Charles Leclerc, without giving an exact date. According to press reports, it is planned to last until at least the end of 2026.

A few days after announcing the contract with Leclerc, the Scuderia announced the transfer of Lewis Hamilton. The term of his agreement is also not specified, but is intended for at least two seasons.

McLaren

McLaren’s line-up will remain unchanged next season. Oscar Piastri’s contract runs until the end of 2026, and oke Norris’ contract, which expired at the end of 2025, was extended for a number of more years at the beginning of this year.

Aston Martin

This spring, Aston Martin extended the contract with Fernando Alonso until the end of 2026.

The terms of Lance Stroll’s contract with his father’s team were never disclosed. It is believed that Lance’s place is not in danger, but many experts agree that the team could do with a stronger partner for Fernando Alonso, especially given Lawrence Stroll’s goals to challenge for the title.

Alps

The contracts of Esteban Ocon and Pierre Gasly expire at the end of 2024. There is a good chance that we will see one or two new riders in the Enstone squad next season. Among the candidates are Mick Schumacher, Jack Duhan, Guanyu Zhou, Valtteri Bottas, Kevin Magnussen and even Logan Sargent.

Williams

Ahead of the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix, Williams announced a multi-year contract extension with Alex Albon.

Who will be the racing partner from Thailand is an open question. Williams is clearly unhappy with Logan Sargent’s results, and several names are among the candidates for a replacement, some of which seem unexpected. First of all, it concerns Carlos Sainz, who has reportedly been signed a contract.

There is a good chance that Valtteri Bottas will return to Williams. The Finn has a good relationship with manager James Vowles and Sauber has apparently decided to refuse cooperation with the winner of ten Grand Prix. Other candidates are Kevin Magnussen and Esteban Ocon.

RB

The contracts of Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda expire at the end of this year. RB is pleased with Yuki’s results this season, while his teammate’s prospects of staying in Faenza look bleaker. The main candidate to replace the Australian is reserves player Liam Lawson.

Sauber

Sauber has signed a multi-year contract with Nico Hulkenberg. Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou want to stay in Hinwil, but the team management has already made Carlos Sainz a generous offer and now everything depends on the Spanish driver’s decision.

Hare

Nico Hulkenberg will leave Haas at the end of the season. Ferrari reserve driver Oliver Berman has the best chance of replacing him.

Kevin Magnussen’s contract expires at the end of 2024. The team is not happy with his results in the first third of the current season and is looking for candidates to replace him. The names of Esteban Ocon, Guanyu Zhou and Logan Sargent are mentioned in the press.
