Charles Leclerc: In Monza we need to be closer to the leaders

Charles Leclerc is preparing optimistically for Ferrari’s home race in Italy. He said at a press conference on Thursday that the characteristics of Monza should suit the SF-24 better, allowing him to fight closer to the leaders.

Charles Leclerc: “I don’t think the last two races have changed our expectations. Yes, the team is going through a difficult moment at the moment, because we lack speed. We have understood a lot, but I am unhappy with our performance because it is far from ideal. However, we had a good race in Zandvoort and also the race in Spa was good.

In Monza we need to be in the same shape as in Spa. I hope to fight for the podium this weekend. As for winning, I don’t think it’s possible for us now.

I don’t think Monza is the best circuit to unlock the potential of our updates. Maybe the tracks in Baku or Singapore are better for evaluating new products, but these updates should at least be a step in the right direction.

“We should be in better shape this weekend than last weekend, because this circuit doesn’t require so much downforce, but how much better we will see. The team has prepared several new products that will allow us to take a step in the right direction. I hope we can put all the pieces of the puzzle together and finish closer to the leaders than in the last race.”
