Ricciardo understands how important the remaining races are

Daniel Ricciardo remains the last driver of the two Red Bull teams, i.e. Red Bull Racing and Visa RB, who do not have a contract for 2025. He did not start the season in the best way and only achieved his first points in May in the Miami stage, where he finished fourth in the sprint.

He seems to be performing a bit more confidently than his teammate Yuki Tsunoda lately, but now the Faenza team has clearly lost ground, at this stage of the season the car has become less competitive and the RB drivers can no longer reach the top ten.

At the same time, Red Bull must make a decision on Liam Lawson in September and there is a risk that the promising New Zealand driver, who is 22 years old, could take the place of the 35-year-old Australian in 2025. The situation is difficult and Ricciardo understands that the remaining eight stages of the season will be the most important races of his career.

“This is exactly what my attitude should be,” Speedcafe quotes him as saying. “And when I feel myself starting to relax, I have to wake myself up a little bit to prevent that from happening.”

It’s important to keep that mentality, but I think I’m still learning and that’s a good thing. This attitude is good because when difficulties arise, when the pressure increases a bit, you can say that somewhere inside me a certain spark jumps up, which prevents me from calming down, relaxing – whatever you want to call it.

I have to consider the remaining races as very important. Moreover, even if they were not so critical, even if I signed the contract today, I would still have to tell myself that these races are extremely important, because this mentality helps me to give the best of myself.”

To what extent this attitude really helps Ricciardo will become clear next weekend in Baku. Daniel always loved the city circuit in the capital of Azerbaijan, and in those cases where he managed to finish there, he always earned points, and in 2017, while still driving for Red Bull, he won this race.

It is clear that it will not be possible to repeat such a feat behind the wheel of a VCARB01 car, but Ricciardo understands that even just finishing in the top ten can be considered a small victory.
