IndyCar: Ilott signs contract with Prema for 2025

Prema Racing is preparing for its debut in the American IndyCar series – in April it officially confirmed that it would use Chevrolet engines, and principal Rene Rosin promised that the team would have an excellent line-up.

Prema today announced the signing of Callum Ilott, the 25-year-old Briton and runner-up in 2020 F2 who has raced in IndyCar for the past three years, although this season he has mainly competed in endurance races for Jota and in a Porsche hypercar.

Callum joined Prema Racing in European Formula 3 in 2017, winning 6 races and finishing on the podium 11 times in total, but now he returns to the Italian team in a new phase in its history.

With 38 IndyCar races to his name and two top-five finishes, Prema has high expectations of him.

Rene Rosin, team owner: “We are very happy to have Callum back with us to write the next chapter in our history. We worked well with him in Formula 3, but we have also followed his successes afterwards.

He has been a great fit for us in the past, and at this point we feel that we will continue to work together. He has repeatedly demonstrated his outstanding speed and racing skills in all the series he has competed in. In addition, his previous IndyCar experience will be invaluable to us.

This is the opportunity to join forces again and we are determined to make the most of it.”

Callum Ilott: “I’ve had the amazing opportunity to work with Prema in IndyCar as the team prepares to take its first steps into the American series. I love racing, I love IndyCar and I love this team – it’s great to be back in this “Italian family”, as they call it.

We need to join forces and develop this special project. There is still a lot of work to be done and I am happy to join Prema – we will see what we can achieve together.”
