Following the announcement of Gabriel Bortoleto’s contract with Sauber for the 2025 season, the McLaren team, where he was part of the youth program, released an official statement.
Andrea StellaTeam Principal: “Gabriel Bortoleto will be released from the McLaren Driver Development Program at the end of the 2024 season to pursue new opportunities in his career.
We have enjoyed working with Gabriel over the past year and have the opportunity to contribute to his success and growth as a rider through our youth program.
We have a strong driver line-up with Lando and Oscar, and we have always made it clear that we will not stand in Gabriel’s way and will give him the opportunity to progress until we can get him a seat at McLaren ourselves to offer.
We look forward to seeing Gabriel finish his race for the Formula 2 title and wish him all the best for the future of his career.”
