Russian goalkeeper “Carolina Hurricanes” Petr Kochetkov recognized as the best newcomer to the National Hockey League (NHL) in December, informs the official website of the American club.
In December, the 23-year-old Russian recorded seven wins (two clean sheets) in eight games, conceding an average of 1.63 goals per game and passing 93.9% of shots. Kochetkov became just the second goaltender in Hurricanes history to score two shutouts in a month as a rookie.
The Carolinas are first in the NHL Eastern Conference with 54 points.
