Former Russian national team player Maxime Sushinski who played for Avangard and Metallurg Magnitogorsk, admitted to RB Sport that he didn’t see a favorite in the Eastern Conference final of the KHL’s Fonbet Championship playoffs.
In the semi-finals in the East, Avangard beat Metallurg 4-0 in the series, Ak Bars was stronger than Admiral (4-2).
– Did you see how Magnitogorsk played with Avangard? said Sushinsky. – Looks like they came out to lose. It wasn’t interesting to watch at all. No one’s eyes light up. I don’t understand what kind of team they put together this season. The guys were without desire, they didn’t want anything.
– Last year Metallurg reached the Gagarin Cup final, maybe they’ve had enough?
– What does it mean, “has reached the final and that’s enough”? No, something was happening inside the team. We don’t know exactly what. Some players, probably, went on vacation in advance, did not want to fight. I don’t know, let the leaders find out.
– Who to bet on in the Eastern Conference Finals – on Avangard or Ak Bars?
It’s hard to say who to bet on. Bet on good hockey.
– Do you see a favorite in this pair?
– I don’t see it yet. Very even two teams.
The first match of the series between Avangard and Ak Bars will take place on April 1 in Kazan.
