Triple world hockey champion Alexei Tereshchenko answered the question of how many games the Russian forward of the Washington Capitals will need Alexander Ovechkin to beat Canadian Wayne Gretzky’s record and become the best sniper in NHL history.
Ovechkin has scored 824 career NHL regular season goals. The Russian ranks second on the list of best snipers in league history, behind Wayne Gretzky’s 70 goals (894).
— I think Alexandre will definitely beat Gretzky’s record! When will this happen? Of course, the sooner the better. But no one can tell you for sure. Ovechkin has a three-year contract with the club. God willing, maybe he will start scoring in every game now. I suggest all fans not to make predictions, but just enjoy his game,” Tereshchenko said, as quoted by RT.
