CEO “Capitals of Washington” Brian McLellan has commented on the club’s choice of the Russian striker Ivan Miroshnichenko in the first round of the NHL Draft. The forward received the 20th pick in the draft.
“He is a very good player. The scouts determined his personality and character. He overcame very serious adversities and continues to fight. I hope that we will achieve everything we have planned and that we will have a very good player on our team,” McLellan told the Washington press service.
Previously, the 18-year-old striker underwent treatment for Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Last season he played 31 games for Omsk Krylia in the VHL, in which he scored 16 (10+6) points.
