Athletistic/Hockey. Hockey expert and commentator Leonid Weisfeld commented on the Kontinental Hockey League’s decision to become independent from the International Hockey Federation (IIHF). Earlier, the KHL decided to distance itself from the IIHF, which raised fears of retaliation from the federation.

“Let’s start with the fact that we were not the initiators of this situation. This is the first thing. Secondly, if they do not allow us to participate in competitions, then the question arises: ‘Why do we need the IIHF then? The main function of the IIHF for us is participation in international competitions. If we are not allowed to do this, then what else can we have in common with them, except for competitions. It is clear that a bad peace is better than a good quarrel. But the fact is that we did not start this story. So what? Now let’s stop playing hockey because of this. So we should develop hockey in our country,” Weisfeld said in an interview with RB Sport.
