Athletistic / Hockey. Metallurg Magnitogorsk President Viktor Rashnikov said he offered Pittsburgh Penguins forward Evgeni Malkin to return to Magnitogorsk after his contract with the NHL club expires. The 37-year-old Russian has been performing in North America since the fall of 2006.
“This year I told Malkin: ‘Zhenya, come back. You already have three Stanley Cups, now we have three Gagarin Cups, let’s win a fourth Cup as well. Malkin has two more years on his NHL contract and, of course, we will be very happy to have him back.'” TASS quotes Rashnikov as saying.
Evgeni Malkin’s contract with Pittsburgh will end in the summer of 2026. Earlier, the hockey player himself admitted the possibility of returning to Metallurg after the end of the agreement with the Penguins.
Evgeni Malkin is a Magnitogorsk hockey graduate. He played for Metallurg from 2003 to 2006, as well as during the NHL lockout from September 2012 to January 2013.
