Sports director of Metallurg Magnitogorsk Sergei Gomolyako In an interview with , he spoke about the new contract of the team’s head coach Andrei Razin .
On Friday, Metallurg announced that it had extended Razin’s contract by another year, until the end of the 2025/26 season.
— How did you agree with Razin on a new contract?
— Literally one or two days, his agent arrived, we quickly accepted. Yesterday, everything was discussed, today it is signed.
— Metallurg’s development is now stable for the next two years.
— Our club is already quite well developed. Another thing is that we are satisfied with the work of the coaching staff. Well, we made this gesture. We understand that our young people are growing, with whom Andrei Vladimirovich knows how to work.
— Has Razin become the leader in terms of salary among KHL coaches?
– No, he is not the highest paid. Let’s say he has an average level. But after winning the Gagarin Cup, his salary increased.
— A year ago, Razin set himself an official goal: to win the Gagarin Cup in two years. What is the goal now?
— You heard at the championship parade in Magnitogorsk that we won the Gagarin Cup, and that’s good. But no one is taking away our tasks for next year. We need the Gagarin Cup again. Metallurg has no other goal and cannot achieve it. “We are only aiming at the cup,” Gomolyako told .
Last April, Razin took over as head of Metallurg and led the team to the Gagarin Cup in his first season; in the final, Magnitogorsk beat Lokomotiv (4-0 in the series).
