The specialist fought against cancer
Leading biathlon coach dies Vasily Karlenko. The specialist passed away on September 10 due to cancer.
Karlenko worked for a long time on the coaching staff of the Ukrainian national team. The specialist also served as vice-president of the Ukrainian Biathlon Federation and was an honorary member of the National Olympic Committee.
Karlenko was also involved in scientific activities. The specialist was a professor at the National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine, and trained many of the current biathlon coaches.
Vasily Karlenko died at the age of 73.
