The blue-yellows lost to the Dominican Republic team in three sets
Ukrainian women’s volleyball team lost Dominican Republic in the third match of the qualifying tournament at Olympic Games 2024 – 0:3.
In the first set there was an equal fight for a long time, but in the end the representatives of Central America gave a spurt and confidently won – 25:17. In the second game, the Ukrainians resisted longer, but still success was not on their side – 21:25.
The third set turned out to be dramatic. The teams went point-to-point all the way. Starting with the score 24:24, Ivan Petkov’s team took the lead five times in a row, but were unable to achieve local success. As a result, the Dominican Republic took the set with great difficulty (31:29) and won the entire match.
Having not scored a single point and not won a single set after three matches, Petkov’s team takes last place in the Group A standings. The Dominican Republic, having won a second victory, rose to third place. Teams from Serbia and China top the table.
Let us remind you that our national team was in the same group with the teams of China, Canada, the Czech Republic, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, the Netherlands and Serbia. All matches of this octet take place in China from September 16 to 24. Only the top two teams from the group will qualify for the Olympics in Paris.
In the first qualifying match, Ukraine lost to China (0:3), and in the second match, with a similar score, they lost to the current world champions, Serbia. In the next round, the blue-yellows will play the Netherlands on September 20.
