Matytsin: “I hope that the IOC is not only stronger, but also faster in making decisions”

Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Oleg Matytsin said that international volleyball had been removed from Russian volleyball, not the other way around, and also called on the International Olympic Committee (IOC) to quickly make a decision on the return of Russian national teams to international tournaments.

On Friday, a gala evening dedicated to the centenary of Russian volleyball will take place.

— Volleyball in our country is the flagship of the development of team sports. I wish the history of volleyball development was endless. Volleyball in Russia creates all conditions not only for achieving high results, but also for the production of national balls and uniforms.

I hope that the IOC is not only stronger, but also faster in making decisions. International volleyball is being removed from Russian volleyball, not the other way around. The fact that the World Volleyball Championship was not held in Russia is not something that we have lost, but world volleyball, ”reports correspondent, reporting Matytsin’s words .

At the end of March, the IOC announced recommendations for the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions. Recommendations include individual admission, neutral status, banning participation in team sports, and banning participation of athletes associated with security forces or who have expressed support for the SVO.
