Athletistic/OI-2024. Russian Ambassador to France Alexei Meshkov stressed that Russian athletes and fans preparing to go to the Paris Olympics risked finding themselves without diplomatic support.

“Our athletes and tourists who wish to attend the Olympic Games in Paris must understand that they will not go to the idyllic paradise that the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borrell, spoke of, but to the harsh western jungle, where, due to actions of the French authorities, they risk finding themselves completely without support.

If unforeseen circumstances arise, they will have to solve the problems on their own, since our diplomatic structures are completely cut off. Not only is the embassy prohibited from visiting or participating in events related to the Olympic Games, but even despite our numerous requests, we have not received any guarantee to obtain the basic documents to circulate in the center of Paris, which will be completely fenced, and where, unfortunately, all our institutions are located,” TASS reports quoting the diplomat.

The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11. Russian athletes competing in neutral status are not allowed to participate in the opening ceremony of the Games.
