“I don’t care about Bach. I see that they don’t let us in, I understand everything” – swimmer Stupin

Russian swimmer Maxime Stupin told that he tried not to pay attention to the statements of the head of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Thomas Bach.

Bach had earlier said the IOC had managed to avoid a boycott of the 2024 Olympics in Paris. According to him, the world community has understood and accepted the approach of political neutrality, when the IOC imposes sanctions on those who violate the Olympic Charter and protects those who do not violate it. He clarified that the organization’s actions must have a political impact, otherwise they would have no relevance.

“I don’t care about Thomas Bach.” I think he cares about me too. I haven’t seen his statement. I try to work and distract myself from all this news. I see that in reality we are not allowed to carry the flag and the anthem, and I understand everything,” Stupin told .

In December 2023, the IOC announced the admission of Russian athletes who have passed selection to the Olympic Games in an individual neutral status without national symbols. Later, the IOC announced that, according to the most likely scenario, 36 Russian athletes would participate in the Games and would have to sign a special document. Athletes’ compliance with the conditions for admission to neutral status will be determined by the commission.

The Paris Olympic Games will take place from July 26 to August 11.
