Chelsea have agreed with Sport Recife to sign 17-year-old defender Pedro Lima

The deal amount will be 7 million euros + bonuses, and the player will initially go to Strasbourg

Chelsea reached a verbal agreement with the Brazilian Sports Recife about signing a young defender Pedro Lima.

The transfer amount will be 7 million euros. Sport Recife will be able to receive another 3.5 million as bonuses.

The peculiarity of the deal is the fact that the Blues are buying the player not for themselves, but for friendly Strasbourg, a club that Chelsea’s owners acquired in 2023.

Pedro Lima is a right-back who will celebrate his 18th birthday on July 1st. Since January of this year, he has been playing for the first team of Sport Recife – 26 matches, two goals and two assists in all tournaments. The Transfermarkt portal estimates it at 600 thousand euros.

Chelsea, which features Ukrainian Mikhail Mudrik, took sixth place in the Premier League. After this, the team changed its coach – Enzo Maresca was signed instead of Mauricio Pochettino. The Blues will play in the Conference League qualifiers next season.

Strasbourg finished 13th in French Ligue 1. They also have Ukrainian defender Eduard Sobol in their squad, who spent the second part of the 2023/24 season on loan at Genk.
