Romanchuk and Bukhov won two more medals for Ukraine in swimming at the 2024 European Aquatics Championships

Mikhail took second in the 1500-meter freestyle, and Vladislav won bronze in the 50-meter race.

Ukrainian swimmers Mikhail Romanchuk And Vladislav Bukhov replenished the medal box Ukrainian national team on European Championship 2024 in water sports.

Mikhail interrupted his “golden” streak, showing the second result at a distance of 1500 meters freestyle. After a third of the distance, the Ukrainian was second, second only to the Irishman Nathan Wiffen. After the 100-meter mark, Romanchuk took the lead, but subsequently lost it to Kazei Tunceli from Turkey.

Romanchuk won a medal in this discipline for the fifth European Championship in a row. In 2016, he won bronze, followed by silver and two golds in a row. At the current Euro, Mikhail has already won his second award – earlier, we recall, he became the continental champion in 800-meter freestyle swimming.

For the first time in his career, Bukhov stood on the podium at the senior European Championship level. The 21-year-old Ukrainian managed to show third place in the final 50-meter freestyle swim.

Thus, Ukraine has already won three medals in swimming at Euro 2024. In addition to Romanchuk (twice) and Bukhov, the previous winner in this sport was 18-year-old Alexander Zheltyakov, who won gold in the 200 m backstroke.

Ukraine won three more awards at the continental championship in diving. First, our team took second place in the team competition among mixed pairs, then Ksenia Baylo entered the picture, winning two medals in pair synchronized diving from a ten-meter platform – bronze in a duet with Marko Barsukov and gold in tandem with Sofia Lyskun.
