The BRICS 2024 Games took place in Kazan from June 12 to 23. Russia took first place in the overall medal standings, winning 509 medals: 226 gold, 142 silver and 101 bronze.
“I would not draw a parallel between the Olympics and the BRICS Games because of their different scales. The organizational level in Kazan has always been high. The 2013 Universiade and the 2015 World Aquatics Championships clearly demonstrated this. The city was perfectly prepared to receive guests, and the athletes enjoyed the full stands that they had missed so much. The springboards and bases were renovated right before the tournament, which contributed to the high level of performance of the athletes. I would like to express my gratitude to the organizers and everyone who participated in the preparation of the BRICS Games,” Galperin said, as quoted by Metaratings.ru.
The 2024 Summer Olympics will be held in Paris from July 26 to August 11.
