Skripnik also highlighted the work of Alexander Shovkovsky
Famous Ukrainian mentor Victor Skripnik assessed the work of the coaching department in the UPL and compiled his rating of the strongest Ukrainian club coaches.
“Rotan is impressive in terms of how he works in terms of vision and play. Ruslan is number one in this regard. Next, apparently, comes Vernidub, who, with the set of players he has, holds the bar for the second year in a row.”
“Dynamo is Dynamo. Today, the best Ukrainian players are gathered there. They have a team, Alexander Shovkovsky keeps the guys in good shape.”
“You can still name more than one coach who, at one time or another, showed himself well in Ukraine. But now the most stable coaches in Ukraine are Rotan and Vernidub.”
Skripnik previously headed Werder Bremen, Riga, and in the UPL he alternately coached Zarya (2019-2022), Vorskla (2022-2023) and Metalist 1925 (2023-2024).
Skripnik left Metalist 1925 at the end of July, when the Kharkov club failed in the “tournament of four” for the right to return to the UPL.
