All seven goals were scored before the break
Arsenal in a productive match of the 13th round nuclear submarine defeated on the road with seven goals West Ham – 5:2.
In the first half hour, Bukayo Saka gave two assists – Gabriel Magalhaes and Leandro Trossard took advantage of them. Soon Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz brought the score to an indecent level.
Suddenly the Hammers were back in the game and four minutes later they halved the gap with full-backs Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Emerson scoring. But the comeback did not continue: a penalty was awarded against the hosts, and the hero of the half, Saka, converted it.
All these events fit in before the break. In the second half, the favorite calmly maintained a comfortable gap in the score and brought the game to its logical conclusion. Mikel Arteta’s team was helped in this by Alexander Zinchenko, who came on in the 56th minute instead of Riccardo Calafiori. The Ukrainian defender received the most time in this championship from the first round, when he made his only start and played 69 minutes.
The victory allowed the Gunners to leapfrog Brighton and move up (at least until tomorrow) to second place. Their today’s opponent remained 14th.
Arsenal will host Manchester United next Wednesday, and West Ham will play away against Leicester the day before.
