Trusova – about the isolation of Russian figure skaters from tournaments: “I want to skate for people”
“I’m already used to the fact that it’s almost impossible to hide (smiles). Wherever I go: in a cafe, in a clothing store, in a supermarket – everywhere they ask: ‘Are you Trusova? Can I take a picture?” Recently, in St. Petersburg, I went to a pharmacy with Liza Nugumanova, deliberately stepped aside, with my back to the sellers, and I still hear: “Look, this girl has the same hair than Trusova.” My friends, when they see this, they also always ask: “Sasha, how do you live like this?” But I’m fine, I’m used to it, I don’t get tired of the increased attention to myself.
I am happy that my children look up to me. Now they watch figure skating more, I think. But I don’t like to think of it as a liability. I don’t bother with that. I am very respectful of all my fans, if someone asks me for an autograph or a joint photo, I almost never refuse. I always try to be myself, don’t try to look better than I really am. If you try to act fake, people will definitely feel it,” Trusova told World of Figure Skating magazine.
