“After two days with such breakdowns, I lost the desire to drive off-road” – KAMAZ master driver about the sixth stage of the “Silk Road”

Bogdan Karimov, a driver of the KAMAZ-master team, after completing the sixth stage of the Silk Way rally marathon, said that due to shock absorber failures he lost the desire to take risks and left the main road.

The sixth stage of the Silk Way Rally on the Khovd-Khovd route ended in Mongolia on Wednesday. The special stage was won by KAMAZ master driver Eduard Nikolaev, Karimov was 55 minutes behind.

– I am not very happy with today. The first part was very fast, almost all the time at maximum speed. At the 80th kilometer we approached Sergei Kupriyanov, he let us pass. After the neutralization zone we moved away from the road, but on a well-trodden path. In one of the ravines, the right side got stuck and all four right shock absorbers collapsed. Kupriyanov gave us a spare, Andrei Karginov, who stopped, gave us a second spare and took another one from his car. We got the fourth.

Yesterday there was a similar problem. And after two days with such breakdowns, I lost the desire to drive off-road. “I will now stick to the main road,” a correspondent reports, according to Karimov’s words.

The Silk Road Rally crosses Russia and Mongolia and ends on July 15 in Ulaanbaatar. The total length of the race is 5,243 km, the length of the special stages is 2,992 km.
