Russell disqualified, Hamilton declared Belgian Grand Prix winner

The reason for the disqualification was the weight of the car after the race.

Formula 1 disqualified the pilot George Russell’s Mercedes after winning Belgian Grand Prix.

The reason for the disqualification was the weight of the Briton’s car after the race – it weighed less than required by the technical regulations after the fuel was drained. The car weighed 1.5 kg less than the norm.

Thus, Russell’s teammate Lewis Hamilton became the winner of the Belgian Grand Prix, and Oscar Piastri from McLaren and Charles Leclerc from Ferrari made it into the top 3.

Let us recall that the winner of the Belgian Grand Prix qualifying was Max Verstappen, who lost 10 positions on the starting grid due to a previously awarded penalty.

The next Grand Prix of the Formula 1 season will be held in the Netherlands. The main race will take place on August 25.
