Russian tennis player Daniel Medvedev noted that in the last game of the tournament in Vienna against the Canadian Denis Shapovalov managed to take advantage of the fact that the opponent at some point began to play less intensively.
Top seed Medvedev beat Shapovalov 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 to win his second title of the season.
– I am very happy. This match was the best of the week, because Denis really played unrealistically, probably until the score was 4:3 in the second set. He lowered his level of play by about two percent, I was able to take advantage of that. When you know your opponent is stronger than you, but you try to do your best, that’s one of the best wins.
I like to play on indoor hard courts at the end of the season. I look forward to the last two tournaments of the year, which are really important, and in which I generally play well,” said Medvedev, as quoted by the official website of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP).
Previously, the Russian qualified for the Final Tournament of the year, which will be held in Turin from November 13-20.
