German World No. 2 Alexander Zverev may not have time to recover from a leg injury U.S. Open according to Reuters.
Zverev injured his ankle in the Roland Garros semi-final with Spaniard Rafael Nadal on June 3 and left the court in a wheelchair. A few days later, the 25-year-old athlete underwent surgery due to a rupture of three lateral ligaments in his right ankle. This week, a video emerged showing Zverev moving about without crutches.
Sasha is recovering well and still hopes to be ready for the US Open. However, it is still too early to say whether he will be able to compete there or not. Attending the Davis Cup in Hamburg in September seems more realistic, but we are keeping our fingers crossed that it will be ready sooner,” said a representative for Zverev.
The US Open will take place from August 29 to September 11 in New York.
