The Ukrainian defeated Celine Nef from Switzerland in two sets
Ukrainian tennis player Katarina Zavatskaya started qualifying with a victory Wimbledon 2024.
Katarina beat Switzerland’s Celine Nef in the first round. The two-set match lasted one hour and 16 minutes.
In the first game, the Ukrainian won four games in a row from the start and confidently maintained her advantage. In the second set, Katarina got two breaks, losing one of her serves, and won the match.
In the qualifying semi-finals, Zavatskaya’s opponent could be another Ukrainian tennis player, Daria Snigur. To do this, Daria needs to pass Gilles Teichmann from Switzerland. Yulia Starodubtseva and Anastasia Soboleva will also perform in the qualifications.
Let us remind you that six Ukrainians were included in the Wimbledon 2024 singles main draw application: Elina Svitolina, Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremska, Lesya Tsurenko, Angelina Kalinina, as well as Katerina Beindl, who used a “protected rating” for her application.
The British Grand Slam tournament will take place (in the main draw) from July 1 to 14. In last year’s Wimbledon, the best among Ukrainians was Svitolina, who reached the semifinals.
