Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports Dmitry Svishchev in conversation withChampionship commented on the words of the father of the world’s first racket Daniel Medvedev that his son is worthy of the title of Hero of Russia.
– There are not many athletes in Russia who have earned the title of Hero of Russia. This title is awarded by decision of the President and for the highest merits. Medvedev has done and will do a lot for the development of sport, for Russian sport and for the country as a whole.
Matches or not – it’s not for me to judge for sure, it’s the president’s decision. I repeat, what he has done and will do deserves the highest recognition of all Russians,” Svishchev said.
Currently, Medvedev is on the first line of the ATP rankings.
