“The closer we get, the more the defeat is perceived as painful… However, I will take advantage of all the positive moments received during these weeks in New York. It was a good path! Thank you all for your support. I will keep working!” wrote Khachanov.
At the US Open, Karen reached the semi-finals of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in her career. In the competition, Karen beat American Denis Kudla (3:6, 6:1, 6:2, 6:2), Brazilian Tiago Monteiro (6:3, 6:3, 5:7, 6: 4), Britain’s Jack Draper (6:3, 4:6, 6:5, technical win), Spaniard Pablo Carreno Bustu (4:6, 6:3, 6:1, 4:6, 6:3 ) and Australian Nick Kyrhos (7:5, 4:6, 7:5, 6:7, 6:4).
In the semifinals of the tournament, Khachanov lost to Norwegian Kasper Ruud with the score 6:7, 2:6, 7:5, 2:6. The US Open final between Casper Ruud and Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz will take place on September 11. The start is at 23:00 Moscow time.
