Switzerland is studying the possibility of applying to host the Winter Olympics in 2030, 2034 or 2038, according to the official website of the country’s Olympic Committee.
At the end of April this year, the NOC and the Swiss Winter Sports Association began to develop a feasibility study.
A review of the winter sports world championships taking place this decade shows that the vision of Switzerland as the host country of the Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games in 2030, 2034 or 2038 can become a reality. The country naturally positions itself as a “world center for winter sports”. A feasibility study should show whether it is worth developing this concept further, the report says.
The 2026 Winter Olympics will be held in Italy (Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo). Switzerland has already hosted the Winter Games twice (1928 and 1948).
