Norwegian biathlete Vetle-Sjastad Christiansen won the sprint race at the fifth stage of the World Cup in Ruhpolding, Germany.
Christiansen, without making any mistakes at the shooting range, covered the distance of 10 km in 22 minutes 27.2 seconds. Silver was won by the Italian Tommaso Giacomel (+16.9 seconds; 1 miss), bronze by another representative of Norway, Tarjei Boe (+20.1 seconds; no misses).
The overall World Cup leader, Norwegian Johannes Boe, finished ninth with a penalty.
Christiansen had already been left out of the Norwegian team at the World Cup in Oberhof.
The Ruhpolding stage will end on Sunday with the pursuit races.
