AEK defeated Athens Kallithea 4-0 in a friendly match at Allwyn Arena in their first game on Greek soil this pre-season. Speaking to Cosmote TV immediately after the match, Serbian head coach Marko Nikolic addressed team readiness ahead of the upcoming Super Cup against OFI.
Nikolic thanked Kallithea for playing the match and explained that AEK wanted the game to adapt to the Greek atmosphere in front of their fans. He fielded 22 players during the contest, giving each player 45 minutes of action. Nikolic noted that while he was satisfied with pre-season preparation, official matches present a different challenge as competitive action begins.
Transfer plans and squad focus
When asked about potential roster additions, Nikolic stated that transfers remain possible as long as the transfer window is open. He emphasized that any move would focus on quality and upgrading specific positions rather than quantity. Nikolic added that AEK will rely on the current squad for the Super Cup and the Champions League play-offs.
