Carlos Alcaraz has unveiled a new hairstyle as he edges closer to returning from the wrist injury that has kept him sidelined since April.
The 23-year-old, who missed the French Open and Wimbledon during his absence, shared a mirror selfie on social media showing his hair grown out and split into braids, a departure from his usual swept short cut. The photo collection was captioned "July," and also included images of Alcaraz celebrating Spain's World Cup win.
Before Wimbledon, Alcaraz said his recovery was going well but that he was still not ready to compete, and withdrew from both Queen's and Wimbledon, describing them as two truly special tournaments.
With Alcaraz out, rival Jannik Sinner claimed the Wimbledon title. Sinner also beat Alcaraz in last year's US Open final, a result Alcaraz will look to reverse when he defends that title later this summer.
Alcaraz is set to return at the Cincinnati Open, which runs from August 8 to August 23, before the US Open begins on August 23.
