Russian figure skater Alexandra Trusova plans to return to competition at a Challenger series event in Tokyo, Russian news agency RIA Novosti reported.
The 22-year-old has already submitted her application for the tournament, scheduled to run from September 4 to 6, and is arranging her visa. Trusova is still waiting for her neutral status to be issued.
Neutral status decision
On June 30, the International Skating Union agreed to admit Russian and Belarusian figure skaters to its tournaments under neutral status. The decision takes effect at the start of the 2026-2027 season.
Trusova has not competed since December 2022. She gave birth to a son in August 2025. In February this year, she returned to competition at the Russian jumping championship.
Career highlights
Trusova is a silver medalist from the 2022 Olympic Games. She has also won gold at the Russian national championship, along with silver and bronze at European championships. She has two junior world championship titles and a third-place finish at the senior world championship.
