Aris center-back Fabiano has been ruled out of the upcoming match against AEK Athens after sustaining a thigh injury, leaving the Thessaloniki club facing a major defensive shortage.
The Brazilian defender suffered a thigh hematoma and was forced to leave the pitch yesterday assisted by medical staff, sparking initial fears of a serious layoff before medical examinations confirmed the diagnosis.
Speaking on protothema.gr's show The Football Show, reporter Fotis Pliakos said that while initial concern was high after Fabiano needed assistance to walk off the field, the medical results proved more positive than expected.
Medical evaluations and return timeline
Fabiano is scheduled to undergo further medical re-examination the day after tomorrow to determine the exact length of his recovery period. He is definitively unavailable for the upcoming clash with AEK Athens.
The absence comes at a difficult position for Aris, as the team is already dealing with squad shortages in central defense. Pliakos noted that there is also a possibility Fabiano could miss subsequent fixtures against Marko and PAOK, though it remains too early to make precise estimates regarding his return date.
