Captain of the Russian national boxing team Muslim Gadzhimagomedov is aware that each opponent of the World Cup is particularly attentive to him.
On Monday in Tashkent, Gadzhimagomedov defeated Chinese Han Xuezhen by unanimous decision and reached the quarterfinals of the World Championship in the weight category up to 92 kg. At this stage, the 2020 Olympic silver medalist and 2019 world champion will meet Brazilian Keno Machado (fourth seed) on May 10. Gadzhimagomedov is the fifth seed in the draw.
– I had the impression that you did not encounter any problem in this fight. In the second round, for example, all the judges gave 10:8 in your favor.
– It turned out to be a great fight, I was opposed by a good opponent who set the tone. At times I had to add speed because the opponent didn’t allow me to relax. The opponent gave all his strength and knew how I worked. I, on the contrary, did not know him before, so it was difficult for me to guess the way to fight. All opponents follow me, I’m ready for that.
Going back to the analysis of the fight, in the first round I had to gain momentum, and in the second I set the right rhythm, and the opponent gradually began to crumble. I made a lot of attacks, in the third period the opponent was tired and couldn’t cope physically. He started to retreat and I scored points, ” correspondent said, citing Gadzhimagomedov.
During the evening session, Sharabutdin Ataev (up to 86 kg), Edmond Khudoyan (up to 48 kg) and Vsevolod Shumkov (up to 60 kg) will deliver their fights in the 1/8 finals of the World Championship. Watch the live broadcast of the evening session on “Match! Fighter,” the show starts at 3:55 p.m. Moscow time.
