England's Charley Hull fired a course-record 62 in the second round of the PIF London Championship at Centurion Club to move into second place. The five-time Ladies European Tour winner sits on 10 under par at the halfway stage, just one stroke behind leader Anna Huang.
Hull bounced back from an opening-round 74 with a bogey-free round of 11 under par on Friday. Her score broke the previous course record set by compatriot Georgia Hall in 2021.
The 11 under par performance also equaled the lowest round in Ladies European Tour history. Hull joined Haeran Ryu, Jessica Korda, Alison Lee, and Karrie Webb in the tour record books.
Hull started her day with an eagle on the first hole. She then recorded three consecutive birdies on holes four, five, and six, followed by another birdie on the ninth to reach six under par at the turn.
On the back nine, Hull added further birdies on the 10th, 13th, 15th, and 17th holes. She finished her round with a birdie on the 18th to complete her round of 11 under par and secure solo second place on 10 under par.
"It was really good, I shot 11 under and I actually left a couple of shots out there coming in. I know that sounds pretty crazy but it was a fun day," Hull said.
"I have been so tired this week, exhausted from the last couple of weeks especially after the AIG Women's Open last week," she added.
"I feel pretty tired and my body is in bits. I have got a few ongoing injuries, so I've been having a lot of physio. I'm quite shocked that I've shot 11 under today because I felt so tired this morning," Hull said.
"It felt like the easiest 11 under of my life. I'm standing here right now feeling like I left a couple of shots out there and I want to go and see if I can improve it tomorrow [Saturday]," she said.
Anna Huang holds lead at halfway stage
Three-time Ladies European Tour winner Anna Huang of Canada retained the lead after producing a second-round 68 in Hertfordshire. The 17-year-old sits at the top of the leaderboard with an 11 under par total.
Huang recorded two eagles in her round at the ninth and 18th holes. She also carded four birdies and three bogeys to maintain a one-shot advantage at the end of day two.
Lydia Hall of Wales holds third place outright on eight under par following a round of 67. Her performance included a chip-in eagle, seven birdies, one bogey, and one double bogey.
Chasers on the leaderboard
Kelsey Bennett of Australia and Aine Donegan of Ireland share fourth place on seven under par. Bennett followed her opening 68 with a round of 71 that contained three birdies and one bogey.
Shannon Tan of Singapore, Anne Van Dam of the Netherlands, and Alice Hewson of England are in a tie for sixth place on six under par. Emma Spitz of Austria and Luna Sobron Galmes of Spain round out the top 10 on five under par.
Live coverage of the third round begins at 1 p.m. on Saturday on Sky Sports Golf.
