Chelsea staff raised security concerns at their Cobham training ground after two unknown individuals walked past a closed first-team training session on Friday ahead of their Premier League opener against Fulham.
Player support and development officer Willie Isa noticed the intruders near a foliage-covered side gate that leads directly toward the first-team building. The shortcut is frequently used by visitors arriving via the nearby Cobham & Stoke D'Abernon train station to avoid walking around to the main entrance.
Following the incident, security guards told anyone attempting to use the entrance to make the 15-minute walk to the front gate instead, just as rain began falling over the Surrey facility.
Although the two individuals had cleared security to be on the Cobham grounds, Isa, a New Zealand-born former Samoa rugby league star working on manager Xabi Alonso's staff, was irked that they had potentially seen Cole Palmer and his teammates preparing for the Fulham match.
Concerns surrounding unknown visitors at training grounds have escalated following the Southampton Spygate scandal earlier this year. In that case, Saints manager Tonda Eckert sent a junior analyst to film opposition training sessions, resulting in Southampton being expelled from the Championship play-offs in May and docked four points for the current season.
Set-piece analyst Andre Reis joins coaching staff
Chelsea have expanded their backroom team by hiring set-piece analyst Andre Reis as a new first-team analyst alongside recent arrival Austin MacPhee from Aston Villa.
Reis spent the past seven years working with the Portuguese Football Federation, analyzing set-pieces for Portugal at Euro 2024, during their victorious 2024-25 Nations League campaign, and at the 2026 World Cup.
His role involved both pitch-based coaching and video analysis. After starting as a youth analyst, Reis worked his way up to assist Cristiano Ronaldo and the senior international squad.
At Chelsea, Reis will assist MacPhee, who also worked with the Portugal national team over the past year. Alonso explained last week that he wants the best possible specialists in every department across the club.
Agent Bradley Hudson-Odoi receives six-month FA suspension
Football agent Bradley Hudson-Odoi, the brother of former Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, has been handed a six-month suspension from all football agent activity and fined £500 by the Football Association.
The FA charged Bradley with breaching FA Rule E1.2 after he allegedly approached or represented a minor without obtaining prior authorization and performed agent services without entering into a representation agreement.
The ban took effect on Monday and will remain in place until February 24, 2027. It covers all services governed by Football Agent Regulations.
Callum Hudson-Odoi joined Chelsea at age seven, making 126 first-team appearances and earning three England caps before moving to Nottingham Forest. Bradley negotiated Callum's contract extension at Forest last season, securing a deal at the City Ground until 2028. Callum was an unused substitute in Forest's opening-day home defeat against Leeds United.
Bradley, a former Fulham academy player who spent ten years as a non-League forward before retiring in 2019 to become an agent, did not respond to requests for comment.

Wolves confirmed the song would no longer be played at Molineux following a review, after supporters used the tune to sing offensive chants targeting rival club West Bromwich Albion.
Although some Chelsea fans use the melody to chant against Tottenham Hotspur, large sections of the fanbase have voiced disapproval over referencing Spurs during the club's pre-match routine.

Chelsea decision-makers anticipate a formal transfer offer from Manchester City for midfielder Enzo Fernandez before the summer window closes on September 1.
However, officials inside Stamford Bridge believe they remain in a strong bargaining position because Fernandez is under a long-term contract and continues to feature prominently in the team.

He then walked over to hand his shirt to a spectator in the home section holding a River Plate away shirt, paying tribute to the club he joined at age six and represented for 15 years.
Fernandez also features in his Chelsea kit during the BBC Match of the Day title sequence, appearing between Tottenham's Xavi Simons and Manchester City's Erling Haaland.
