Colombia finished atop the speed skating medal table at the Central American and Caribbean Games Santo Domingo 2026 on Saturday, after taking gold and silver in the men's 1,000 metres.



Colombian skater Jhon Edward Tascón won the event in 1:23.546. His compatriot Juan Mantilla took silver with a time of 1:23.667, while El Salvador's Sebastián Ruiz claimed bronze in 1:23.626.

Women's race and venue details

Earlier in the day, Colombia's Collin Castro won gold in the women's 1,000 metres speed skating event.

The Games' speed skating competitions began on July 28 at the track and road circuit of the Academia Militar de las Carreras in Santo Domingo Este. They concluded on Saturday at the Patinódromo in the Parque Deportivo Paseo 30 de Mayo in the Dominican capital.

Games by the numbers

The XXV Central American and Caribbean Games are being held in Santo Domingo through August 8, with 6,200 athletes competing in 40 sports and 53 disciplines for 3,244 medals, the largest number in the event's history. The Games will also award qualifying spots for international competitions ahead of the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.
