Cristiano Ronaldo scored twice to help Al-Nassr clinch the Saudi Pro League title, ending his wait for a first major honour in Saudi Arabia since joining the club in January 2023.
Al-Nassr beat Damac 4-1 on Thursday night, finishing two points clear of title rivals Al-Hilal. Ronaldo's only previous trophy at the club had been the Arab Club Champions Cup.
Al-Nassr had missed a chance to win the league earlier this month, drawing 1-1 with Al-Hilal after conceding a bizarre own goal in stoppage time. Ronaldo, who earns £488,000 a day in Saudi Arabia, then saw his side lose to Gamba Osaka in the AFC Champions League Two final.
How the title was won
Sadio Mane opened the scoring for Al-Nassr in the first half, and Kingsley Coman doubled the lead after the break. Damac pulled a goal back in the 57th minute before Ronaldo settled the game with a brace.
The 41-year-old scored his first from a free kick out on the left wing just after the hour mark, then added a close-range finish in the 80th minute to complete the 4-1 win and seal the title.
Al-Nassr had not won the domestic league since 2019, finishing second, second and third in Ronaldo's three previous seasons at the club. He ended this campaign with 28 league goals, behind only Julian Quinones and Ivan Toney.
Ronaldo was joined on the pitch by his fiancee Georgina Rodriguez and their children to celebrate the win.
A season of controversy
Ronaldo went on strike in February, protesting over alleged preferential treatment toward Al-Hilal after they signed Karim Benzema, before ending the strike and returning to first-team action.
In April, Toney criticised the integrity of officiating in the Saudi Pro League, with the Al-Ahli forward and his teammates appearing to suggest the league was trying to help Ronaldo win the title.
Ronaldo is now set to link up with the Portugal squad ahead of his sixth, and likely final, attempt at winning the World Cup.
