Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev has ended his coaching relationship with Australian Rohan Goetzke after a one-year partnership.
Russian sports news outlet Championat reported the separation between world number six Medvedev and Goetzke, who coached the Russian from September 2025 to September 2026.
Following Goetzke's departure, Andrey Golubev remains as Medvedev's sole coach. Medvedev confirmed that he and Golubev have agreed to work together until the end of the current season, after which they will evaluate their future plans.
In an interview with the sports media project Bolshe, Medvedev explained that he had wanted to continue working with Goetzke, but the partnership could not be sustained. He stated that he and Goetzke would no longer work together, while adding that he was incredibly grateful to both Goetzke and former coach Thomas Johansson for demonstrating a different approach to tennis, shotmaking, and court psychology.
ATP title in Hangzhou
The decision to part ways comes immediately after Medvedev claimed victory at the ATP 250 tournament in Hangzhou, China, on September 29. Medvedev secured the title by defeating fellow Russian Andrey Rublev in the final with a score of 7-5, 6-4.
Goetzke had joined Medvedev's team in September 2025, spending exactly 12 months with the former world number one. During that period, the Australian coach collaborated with Johansson to assist Medvedev in refining his tactical preparation and technical mechanics across the ATP Tour calendar.
Golubev, a former professional player who represented Kazakhstan on the ATP Tour and won a career singles title at the Hamburg Open in 2010, took on coaching responsibilities with Medvedev earlier in the 2026 season. Golubev will now guide Medvedev through the remaining tournaments of the autumn campaign.

Medvedev established himself among the elite of men's tennis by winning the US Open title in 2021 and ascending to the world number one spot in the ATP rankings in 2022. Known for his tactical intelligence, deep baseline positioning, and elite counter-punching abilities, he has maintained a consistent presence in the top ten of the world rankings over recent seasons.
