Former UFC fighter Dustin Poirier made crude remarks to police officers during his arrest for public intoxication, according to a report by Happy Punch.
Poirier, a former UFC interim lightweight champion, was detained on June 21 for appearing in public while drunk. During the arrest, he told officers to check his genitals as well, asking them to make sure he had one, and questioned whether they wanted to check. He told the officers they were missing an opportunity, said he did not care about his fans or about them, and challenged them to let him go and fight one on one.
Poirier was later taken to a police station, where he continued to offer to fight the officers there. One officer responded that Poirier could be whoever he wanted to be from the UFC, but that he was going to get worked over that day. The officer added that Poirier already had one cauliflower ear and that he was going to tear off the other one and put it in his pocket.
Poirier's UFC career
Poirier is a well known mixed martial artist who held the UFC interim lightweight title and fought some of the promotion's biggest names, including Conor McGregor. Cauliflower ear, the injury referenced by the arresting officer, is a common condition among fighters caused by repeated trauma that causes the ear's cartilage to swell and deform.
Past hacking claim
The arrest is not the first time Poirier has drawn attention for comments outside the cage. In February 2025, he said a Russian hacker had broken into one of his social media accounts, without specifying which platform. Poirier said he had changed his password to a random string of numbers and letters, only for the same person to hack him again within three minutes. He said he thought the hacker was simply good at what he did and said he respected him for it.
