English golfer Eleanor Givens won her first Ladies European Tour title at the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open in Zug, securing a one-shot victory.
The 37-year-old carded a five-under 66 on the third and final day, retaking the lead at 17 under par with a birdie on the 17th hole before parring the 18th to seal the win at her 210th attempt.
Her final-round performance capped a near-flawless week in central Switzerland. Givens made five birdies in a blemish-free final round and registered just one bogey across all three days, which came during her three-under opening round.
Blemish-free final round in Zug
Givens built momentum on Friday with a five-under round that included three consecutive birdies to finish. On Saturday, she picked up early shots at the second, third, and seventh holes before adding another birdie at the 10th.
Her decisive move came on the penultimate hole, where she picked up a fifth birdie of the day to pull ahead of the field. The victory lifted Givens to 23rd on the Ladies European Tour Order of Merit, the tour's official season ranking.
Givens reflects on breakthrough victory
Speaking after the final round, Givens described her triumph as life changing after playing in 209 tour events without a victory.
"I can't believe it! I'm so excited and really proud of myself. I'm a little bit in shock as well. I did feel pretty calm today, a lot calmer than I thought I would," Givens said.
"I just thought 'come on, lets go for this'.My weekend had a nightmare start so it's kind of fate that I managed to win this week. I took my chance."
The English golfer revealed she had contemplated retiring from professional golf during the previous season before choosing to push forward.
"I was looking last year at whether I still wanted to play or not. I decided, 'no, come on, you've got this, you've got the ability to play and still compete. I've worked really, really hard behind the scenes. To have this trophy means so much," she said.
"It was 210th time lucky, right?! No, I always knew I had the capability to win. This is actually really my first proper time being in contention. Some of just take longer than others. It's cool I get to put to my name on this amazing trophy."
Challengers and tree shot drama
Germany's Alexandra Forsterling shared second place on 12 under par alongside Ireland's Anna Foster and Australia's Whitney Hillier.
Forsterling produced a remarkable moment on the 14th hole after her tee shot got stuck in a tree. The German golfer escaped with a par after chipping in from off the green.
Sweden's Kajsa Arwefjaell, who led by three shots heading into Saturday, finished fifth on 11 under par. She dropped three shots across her opening 10 holes and closed with a one-over 72.
English success on European tour
Givens is the third English winner on the Ladies European Tour in 2026. Charley Hull won the season-opening PIF Saudi Ladies International in February, and Esme Hamilton claimed her first tour title at the South African Women's Open in April.
The tour moves next to the KPMG Women's Irish Open, starting on Thursday, August 27. England's Lottie Woad won the tournament last year while still an amateur.
