Benzema joined Al Ittihad in the summer of 2023. In January, it was reported that Benzema could be loaned to Paris Saint-Germain until the end of the 2023/24 season, and that the footballer had also left Saudi Saudi. According to media reports, his current club sent Benzema back to his native country due to a foot injury; this information has not been officially confirmed.
Marca claims Benzema has not returned to the team. Al-Ittihad coach Marcelo Gallardo decided not to take Benzema to the training camp and suspended the striker from training.
Benzema made 20 appearances for Al Ittihad, scoring 12 goals and making five assists. In 2022, the Frenchman received the Ballon d’Or for the best player in the world.
