In testing in Abu Dhabi, Red Bull Racing worked with three riders, the lead pilots being joined by a youth program participant, Liam Lawson…
Sergio Perez: “I did a good morning program, collected information for the engineers, and I am satisfied with the work done.
The new compounds perform just as well as the ones we’ve been using this season, but the front tires are a little more resistant to wear. In Abu Dhabi we are testing tires in very hot weather, this work is just beginning – we still have a lot to learn and analyze.
Max Verstappen: “We completed our program with an initial basic understanding of how tires work. It is good to be able to do a few laps on the last compounds that we will use in 2023, but the tires behave differently on each track. Now it is difficult to judge their properties, but it is better than nothing.”
Liam Lawson: “These days are very important. Testing in Formula 1 is very limited, time on track is very valuable and I’m glad I got behind the wheel and helped the team. Yes, and for me personally it is important.
Formula 1 cars are unique, performances in the youth series help preparation, but nothing can replace real time on the track.
Everything went well today. After a full day behind the wheel I feel comfortable in the car and I hope to have more such opportunities in the future.
