Cedi Osman will undergo surgery on his right knee in Istanbul on Saturday midday to repair a torn meniscus, Greek basketball club PAOK BC announced.

The Turkish forward will undergo the procedure on Saturday, November 7, after suffering the injury to his right knee. The club confirmed the medical update ahead of his departure for Turkey.
Osman visited the PAOK Sports Arena in Thessaloniki shortly before leaving for Istanbul. Teammates and club staff gathered at the arena to wish him a successful operation and a prompt return to the basketball court.
Meniscus injury and recovery
A meniscus tear involves damage to the tough band of cartilage that cushions and stabilizes the knee joint. The meniscus sits between the shinbone and thighbone, absorbing shock during running, jumping, and rapid changes of direction.
Injuries to the meniscus occur frequently in basketball, where sudden pivoting, decelerations, and heavy landings place significant stress on the joint. When a tear happens, athletes typically experience swelling, stiffness, and pain during rotation of the knee.
Surgical intervention for a torn meniscus commonly involves an arthroscopic procedure to repair the tissue or remove damaged fragments. Postoperative recovery requires structured physical therapy to restore range of motion and rebuild strength in the leg muscles before a player can return to full contact drills.
Cedi Osman and PAOK basketball
Osman is an established Turkish international forward with extensive top level experience. He spent multiple seasons in North America competing in the National Basketball Association for the Cleveland Cavaliers and San Antonio Spurs before continuing his career in European basketball.
PAOK BC, based in Greece's northern port city of Thessaloniki, is one of the historic institutions in Greek basketball. The club competes in the Greek Basket League and plays its home fixtures at the PAOK Sports Arena, a venue that accommodates more than 8,000 spectators.
The Thessaloniki club confirmed that Osman will receive his medical treatment in Istanbul, where surgical specialists will carry out the procedure and oversee his initial recovery.
